i-paddockActive downforce control
In 2022 i-paddock launched the much anticipated i-paddockActive downforce control system, designed by i-paddock founder Mic Fels, exclusively for i-paddock. The step change gains now achieved with exact downforce control have been so significant that i-paddockActive (IPA) kits are now mandatory with all i-paddock Alpha disc orders.
i-paddockActive is a totally unique load sensing system for maintaining constant packing pressure and depth control with the i-paddock Alpha disc units, and is a must for all owners using the i-paddock Alpha disc.
On top of the other major constraints of old disc designs that the i-paddock Alpha disc has resolved, the i-paddockActive is the final piece of the puzzle, removing the last critical limitation which other discs suffer from in the field, that being the downforce required to keep a disc engaged at the correct depth (for seed depth accuracy), without over packing in softer country, or hairpinning / lack of penetration in the harder areas of the paddock.
After searching available load cell based systems used elsewhere, Mic decided to develop a far simpler system without the fragile sensors, connectors and complex control systems typically used for sensing and controlling packing pressure.
Knowing the rough and tough environment we farmers put our machines through, the totally innovative i-paddockActive downforce system uses a bullet proof (literally) load sensing compression-contact system, which through a simple feedback loop regulates hydraulic downforce pressure to keep the disc perfectly positioned, and the press wheel running at exactly the operator-set weight. Operator adjustment of the packing pressure is literally done with a 30mm spanner, on a set and forget basis.

In line with i-paddock’s commitment to 100% backwards compatibility to even the very earliest models of our equipment, i-paddockActive Upgrade kits are now also available to suit pre 2022 i-paddock Alpha disc machines.
